As a grassroots organization, CCA knows well that the true power of conservation lies with passionate individuals who are willing to “Get their feet wet and hands dirty” to improve the coast around them.

What is The Eyes of Conservation Program?

The Eyes of Conservation is CCA’s program to honor individuals who have made a mark on marine conservation and habitat enhancement, and raised awareness of the marine environment. As a grassroots organization, CCA knows well that the true power of conservation lies with passionate individuals who are willing to “get their feet wet and hands dirty” to improve the coast around them.

For some, that means being the driving force behind the launch of an oyster shell recycling program in their community. For others, it may mean a private commitment to pick up abandoned crab traps in their favorite bay Others could have the means to bring together resources for a groundbreaking program that makes a difference like never before. Or it could be a fisherman who takes the time to teach youngsters how to fish and care about the coast, or it could be a fisherwoman who adopts a stretch of beach and organizes efforts to make sure it is always clean.

Working without fanfare and armed with a vision of how they can personally make a difference, they are the backbone of conservation. The Eyes of Conservation seeks to recognize passionate individuals who have become quiet leaders in marine conservation through their vision and actions. Not only to laud their commitment, but to highlight what is possible and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

Submit Your Nomination!

We invite CCA members to nominate people in their communities whose personal acts have driven a lasting positive impact for the marine environment and the anglers who participate in it. A small group of selected finalists will be presented in TIDE Magazine and all finalists will receive a prize package. The winner of the annual Eyes of Conservation award will be announced in a feature article in TIDE.
